From our hives

Beekeeping in the Vale of Belvoir

On Peacock Farm, our honey is taken from hives all kept in the Vale of Belvoir.

The fresh honey is processed on the farm and supplied to many local shops. Relying on nature means the harvest can vary — so if you can't find it at one of the suppliers listed on our site, you can always contact us to get some direct from the farm.

Tending the hives

Meet Donya

A passion that grew into a calling

Donya had always been interested in keeping bees. She got in touch with her local British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) group, and we offered a local beekeeper space on the farm to keep his hives.

She is now a fully-fledged member of the BBKA, looking after all her own hives as well as encouraging other farmers and enthusiasts to get started.

Looking after bees is no simple task — each season and every hive brings new problems to solve. Donya can often be spotted in her beekeeper's suit around the local area, capturing swarms and giving them a good home on the farm.

She also works to educate the public and new beekeepers about why it matters: bees are essential to our ecosystem.

It was a huge honour to win a Bees' Needs Award in 2022 for our commitment to bees and for spreading awareness of how important they are.
